Published January 8, 2015

This instruction provides policy and delineates specific responsibilities for the packaging of Navy material. This instruction is being reissued with a new date, updated version and signature authority to meet Chief of Naval Operation’s age requirement for Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) instructions. This is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety.

This instruction further defines the criteria for application of military packaging standards of reference (c).
